Growing Roots in Kyle, TX

Sunday Service 10:30-ish AM

The Journey UMC is a proud member of the very progressive United Methodist Church. Our pragmatic approach to outreach & ministry closely follows the true path of Jesus Christ to meet real people exactly where they are in life. Through direct action & mutual aid, we seek to create positive transformation for the community of Kyle, TX & the surrounding region.

Talking to Strangers

Part of our mission is attending local events in the community together. This is socializing, and sometimes volunteer work, not proselytizing. The goal is simply helping our church make publicly visible positive impressions. Ask how to get a free t-shirt!

Rockstar Treatment

We all want the whole congregation to feel like VIPs each Sunday during church service. Stocking our breakfast counter, greeting everyone at the door, cleaning up after the show, & helping visitors feel at home all combines into the perfect Sunday experience.

Energy Work

Our prayer group is always offering guidance and other resources to our church family. Meeting in-person with people who are facing any struggles, big or small, is only part of the assistance available. This is how Jesus meets real people where they are.

Eating Food

Spending time together over a meal is truly a magnificent bonding experience. We are fortunate to have multiple opportunities every month to enjoy food with other members of the community. No need to bring anything unless you want to, but please mention if you are interested in hosting!

Talking To Strangers:

We meet at Kyle Market Days at Mary Kyle Hartson Park on the Second Saturday of the month. Find us at the South-Eastern gazebo at 8am ish.

Rockstar Treatment:

  • Put out coffee & Snacks
  • Greet people at the door with a Bulletin
  • Give giftbags to new Visitors
  • Clean-up & take out the Trash

LIFE TOGETHER

On the Second Saturday of every month, we visit the Southside Community Center in San Marcos to share a meal with the community. Please show-up at 3:30pm to help setup for a meal from 4pm-5pm. This is a great atmosphere to connect with someone different from you that you might otherwise never talk to.

HEARTH LUNCH

On the Last Sunday of every month, we share a meal after church service, typically eating around noon. You do not have to attend church service to enjoy this meal. We discuss opportunities to serve & volunteer in the church and greater community via direct action & mutual aid.

ANCORA MINISTRIES

This project feeds over 800 children across 39 schools in Central Texas, plus another 15,000 kids in Guatemala. Focused on providing local meals outside of the school day as well as addressing malnutrition abroad, our impact includes more than just food, such as athletic shoes, safe cookstoves, & so much more.

United Methodists are urged to speak up for persons who face marginalization of any kind, including because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The United Methodist Church commits to befriending and caring for all persons, including LGBTQ persons in our churches and communities.

The United Methodist Church opposes continued military occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem, and also the Syrian Golan Heights, the confiscation of Palestinian land and water resources, the destruction of Palestinian homes, the continued blockade of Gaza where over half the residents are children, the military detention of Palestinian children—often without trial—the continued building of illegal Jewish settlements, and any vision of a “Greater Israel” that includes the occupied territories and the whole of Jerusalem and its surroundings.
